EveryBenefit is an educational publication about Canadian government benefits. Three things are worth stating plainly:

1. This is not personal financial advice

Nothing on this site — guides, figures, or calculators — is a recommendation for your situation. Benefit decisions interact with your taxes, your other income, your health, your spouse’s benefits, and rules that change. For decisions with real money attached, a licensed financial planner or tax professional who can see your whole picture is worth what they cost.

2. We are not the government

EveryBenefit is an independent website. It is not the Government of Canada, Service Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency, or any provincial program, and it is not endorsed by any of them. We explain their programs; we do not administer anything, approve anything, or speak for anyone.

3. Maximums are not typical amounts

Where we show a maximum benefit, we label it as a maximum. Most people receive less, because most benefits are calculated from individual records — contribution history for CPP, residency years for OAS, family income for the CCB and GIS. The amounts that apply to you are in your My Service Canada Account and CRA My Account, and those always outrank anything published here.

Every figure on this site is checked against an official source, which is linked at the bottom of the page it appears on, and every page carries the date it was last updated. If you find an error, tell us and we will fix it the same day.
